The Kite Service Desk quickly identified an Apple-related issue impacting iPads using Kite Student Portal and immediately engaged Apple’s Platform Security team to ensure secure and uninterrupted testing.
Issue Details
The “Genmoji” function in Apple Intelligence can be accessed through the keyboard and used to create AI-generated images. These images can then be shared or saved, which may allow the agent to view or preview the contents of the device’s storage, including images and documents.
In the meantime, Apple Intelligence must be disabled immediately on impacted iPads.
Affected Devices
- iPads with Apple “M” chips (M1, M2, etc.) running iPadOS 18.X or higher
(Entry-level iPads purchased by schools typically do not support Apple Intelligence.)
How to Disable Apple Intelligence
- Open Settings
- Go to Apple Intelligence & Siri
- Slide the toggle off (not green)
Next Steps
Kite staff will continue working with Apple’s Platform Security team on a long-term solution and provide updates as they become available. For questions or support, please contact the Kite Service Desk or Apple Support.
