Cut scores for KAP summative assessments for the 2014–15 school year are now available.
Cut scores define the threshold between Performance Levels in terms of scale scores. Perhaps the most important use of scale scores is to communicate students' level of performance on a KAP assessment by indicating into which Performance Level a student's summative scores fall. KAP defines four Performance Levels, with higher levels indicating higher levels of achievement on a particular assessment.
Performance-Level Descriptors (PLDs) help to define what students know and are able to do at each Performance Level. Together with cut scores, PLDs help shed light on students' strengths and weaknesses in individual subjects.
More information about cut scores, how they are derived, and valid versus invalid cut score comparisons is available on our cut score page.
