English Language Arts

The  content standards in English language arts were revised in 2017 as the Kansas English Language Arts Standards. In addition to standards for reading, writing, and literacy across subject areas, the Kansas English Language Arts Standards include speaking, listening, and language standards. To be prepared for rigorous study in school, and for the working world after formal education is completed, students must be able to use language effectively. Fluency in these standards is vital for students to express themselves and to understand others in oral and written communication, as well as essential to the ability to read critically, to draw conclusions from evidence, and to build knowledge.
